Cornwall is in a unique position to assist eligible businesses through the Grant for Business Investment. Due to Convergence Funding, businesses in Cornwall, that are entitled to grant funding, will receive more in Cornwall than other locations in Britain. In fact, small businesses with less than 50 employees could, in theory, attract 50% of their funding in Cornwall.
In addition, investors can access a range of business support services from Invest in Cornwall. These include expert advice on sources of funding, recruitment, local market research and information on locations and premises. We also offer a wealth of networking opportunities and introduction services to existing businesses and prospective partners.
Over the last decade, Cornwall has benefited from large-scale EU investment to help transform our regional economy – and that investment is set to continue until at least 2013. Cornwall is set to receive some £500m of Convergence funding: c£347m from the European Regional Development Fund and c£153m from the European Social Fund. This will be matched by UK public money from local, regional and national sources giving a total value of c£712m.
