Food Innovation Service

The Food Innovation Service (FIS) is a consultancy providing expert support to the South West regional food industry. Run by a team of three people with many years experience in the industry, the service can provide comprehensive advice, support, scientific and practical resources for food and drink preparation, packing and testing.

The FIS offers annual membership packages at different levels depending on the support the business needs. There are four levels of membership with fees ranging from £250 to £6000. This allows businesses to access the FIS range of services at discounted rates including some free training sessions.  Although FIS services will be offered to non-members, the pricing policy is such that all clients will benefit from joining the FIS at the appropriate level.

FIS offers a comprehensive and sector specific training programme. It runs a region-wide, rolling 10-module continuous professional development programme including modules such as supply chain management, lean manufacturing and packaging.  Other training courses offered by the FIS include, for example, Level 3 Food Safety (CIEH), Basics of Food Microbiology and Cheese Making Theory & Practice.

Technical support can be offered at your own facilities or those available within the Agri-Food Innovation Centre. The facilities at the Agri-Food Centre are amongst the best available anywhere in the country and are managed by the Food Innovation Service.
