Knowledge Transfer Network

A Knowledge Transfer Network is a single far-reaching national network in a specific area of technology or business application which gathers together people from businesses, research, finance, universities and technology organisations to instigate innovation through knowledge transfer.

Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTNs) have been established to push the flow of knowledge within, in and out of specific communities.

KTNs are funded by industry, government and academia. They provide a platform for diverse establishments to come together and provide initiatives and activities that encourage the exchange of knowledge and the stimulation of innovation in these communities. There are currently 15 KTNs.

The KTNs are hosted on _connect a dynamic networking platform. _connect is a site that facilitates information and knowledge sharing, where people can network, with the opportunity for open innovation in a secure environment.  It also offers online tools to work collaboratively, discuss ideas and search for events.

 

Who is eligible?

  • Networking - frequent opportunities to network with academics and other businesses through meetings and targetted events set up by the KTN 
  • Funding opportunities - information on Technology Strategy Board Collaborative R&D calls, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and other sources of funding for innovation
  • Information & News - free access to online tools, such as reports, events, webinars, newsletters and much more
