Exceptional standards of training, customer service and communications have helped build one of the UK’s top entrepreneurial businesses

The BT Business ‘Essence of Entrepreneur’ award celebrates the achievements of small businesses that have found new directions to succeed with the help of technology. In 2007, Redruth-based TRAC Services was one of just 20 UK companies to be honoured with this title.

TRAC offers expert consultancy to pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies, helping them navigate the complexities of the regulatory framework in bringing new products to market. Clients range from major multinationals, for which TRAC offers specialist back-up and research services, to start-up companies without their own regulatory team, for which TRAC can devise a complete regulatory strategy.

Making sure that its staff are fully abreast of all the latest developments in this complex area calls for continual training and development, and TRAC’s commitment to this was recognised at the end of 2009, when only two years after gaining their first Investors in People (IIP) accreditation, TRAC achieved Silver IIP status when it was re-assessed – putting the company in the top 1% of IIP assessed businesses in the UK.

In addition to its IIP achievement, TRAC also achieved a special Graduate Development award at the Excellence in Business Training Awards 2008 and 2010.  These achievements have been assisted by TRAC’s participation in the Unlocking Cornish Potential graduate placement scheme, which has supported the company in recruiting and training talented science graduates.

Indeed, the company sees its location in Cornwall as central to its success. The county’s advanced broadband infrastructure has enabled TRAC to keep in constant and close touch with clients all over the world, using technology including video conferencing.
